OUR SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

OUR PRODUCTS ARE GOING THROUGH SEVERAL CRITERIA IN ORDER TO BECOME
THE MOST 'GREEN' CHOICE POSSIBILE FOR US AND FOR YOUR FAMILY.

OUR PROMISE

Sustainability is at the heart of our brand, so it’s only natural that we ensure full transparency across our value chain, from our processes to product manufacturing. We adhere to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), a third-party certification that independently verifies every step of our supply chain. GOTS is an internationally recognized standard for organic textile processing, ensuring that both environmental and social criteria are met throughout the entire production and delivery chain.

You can find the small icons at each of our products to indicate the positive features of the item, such as organic, long lasting, breathability etc.

Oh, my GOTS!

We aim to protect the diversity of the world, both its nature and its people. That is why Copenhagen Colors is born with a GOTS- and OCS certification. A globally recognized environmental certification which poses strict demands according to international standards and guidelines. That includes not only our textiles but all that we do.

The GOTS criteria include requirements for:

  • Environmental impact at all stages of production
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Quality of the finished product
  • Social requirements based on the key standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO)

Textile producers can then export their organic textiles and clothing with an organic certification. In order to use GOTS as a certification, both we as a brand and company, as well as our partners, must meet specific standards and ensure that we have control over all stages of processing. The entire value chain behind a product will therefore be continuously monitored through a GOTS audit.

THE GOTS CERTIFICATION MEANS THAT WE HAVE A HIGHER RESPONSIBILITY
FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY OF OUR BUSINESS.

The GOTS certification means that we as a brand stand as guards for accountability every step of the way through our value chain. From the cotton seed being sown or the sheep happily crunching away in the field to the day our clothes sit on a bouncing baby. We grow without pesticides and keep a very watchful eye on harmful chemicals during the processing. A GOTS-certification comes with social responsibility as well. Good working conditions, no child labor and a decent wage are human rights. That goes the whole way from the field to the sowing room to the transportation to the minute it lands in the hands of Copenhagen Colors´ customers.

Due Diligence for Sustainability

At Copenhagen Colors, our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint extends beyond our products; it’s ingrained in every part of our process. We are proud to be GOTS and OCS certified, ensuring the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility.

Each year, we conduct a thorough internal audit, producing a detailed due diligence report that highlights the steps we’re taking to meet these standards and identifies areas where we can do even better. We hold our suppliers to the same high standards, requiring them to undergo similar assessments.

While our certifications speak for themselves, we are always transparent in our efforts—our due diligence reports are available upon request, assuring you that we consistently strive for the best in both environmental and social practices.

By choosing Copenhagen Colors, you are not only choosing safe, eco-friendly products but also supporting a brand dedicated to making a positive impact on the world, from the materials we use to the partnerships we build.

CHOOSING A PRODUCT WITH A GOTS CERTIFICATE MEANS THAT YOU, AS A CONSUMER, ARE MAKING AN ORGANIC AND RESPONSIBLE CHOICE.

100% organic cotton.

All our cotton clothes are woven from the finest, long cotton fibres. This makes the clothes both softer and more durable. The high-quality cotton is hand-picked in India - one of the world's oldest cotton-producing countries.

Today, India is at the forefront of responsible production, both in organic farming and a more sustainable production. Among other things, there is a strong focus on water consumption and wastewater treatment.

Of course, everyone we trade and work with within India is GOTS certified. Otherwise, Copenhagen Colors could not be.
